  • The Economic Development Program, often referred to as LB840, is a tool founded through the community tax dollars that encourages and stimulates the growth of quality jobs, attracts permanent investment, broadens the tax bases, and diversifies the economic base.

    There are two committees, the Loan Committee and the Citizens Advisory Committee, terms are 4 years and all members are approved by the City Council.

  • Rock County Community Fund addresses our community needs and invest in its future by providing a way for people to give back to Rock County. We encourage people from all walks of life to make tax-deductible contributions, both large and small. We collaborate with other organizations to identify and support projects, programs, and people who are helping to build the kind of community where our children can choose to live, work and raise their families. We are using philanthropy today as a tool for building a prosperous future for Rock County!

  • The Board of Adjustment consists of five members appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Council. Board members are appointed for a three-year term. Meetings of the Board are held at the call of the chairperson and at such times as the Board may determine necessary.

    The Board of Adjustment renders decisions only on appeals from an action of the Building Inspector, when it has determined that a permit has been issued incorrectly or denied, zoning regulations have been enforced or interpreted incorrectly, or when the appellant proves undue and unnecessary hardship due to a provision applied to a specific lot or tract. The Board of Adjustment is governed by the Revised Statutes of Nebraska.

  • A Planning Commission is a body of citizens that serve within local government, acting as an advisory group to the municipal governing body on issues and policies related to planning, land use regulation, and community development. Planning Commissioners act as citizen planners and work to develop plans and implementation policies that affect how their community manages changes in growth and development.

  • Our volunteer fire department (VFD) is a fire department of volunteers who perform fire suppression and other related emergency services within our local area or assist in surrounding counties if needed. Volunteer and retained (on-call) firefighters are expected to be on call to respond to emergency calls for long periods of time, and are summoned to the fire station when their services are needed. We appreciate Bassett VFD so much!

  • What is RC&D?? Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) is a unique program led by local volunteer councils that helps people protect and develop their economic, natural, and social resources in ways that improve their area’s economy, environment, and quality of life.

  • For over 25 years, Bassett has been host to many from across the United States who come to exhibit or view new technology and enterprises at the Ranch Expo. Each year the legend will continue in Bassett with the reorganization of the "Sandhills Ranch Expo" normally scheduled in June at the Rock County Fairgrounds in conjunction with the large craft show at Rock County High school.
